The recent report that US surgeons and medical doctors have a higher suicide rate than the general population brings the issue of perfectionism into focus as an underlying factor.Perfectionism is a personality trait related to suicide. It is surprising to me that this factor is not fully recognized within the fields of applied Clinical Psychology or Suicidology.
